What sets Pretty Major pots and pans apart?
At Pretty Major, we've meticulously analysed, custom-built, and rigorously stress-tested the design of our cookware. Not only do our products excel in functionality, but they also boast a stylish appearance that enhances the aesthetic of your kitchen, making them a joy to use and display.
How is Pretty Major's nonstick coating guaranteed toxin-free?
Our nonstick ceramic coating is formulated without any potentially harmful substances such as PFAS, including PTFEs and PFOAs, lead and cadmium. Each piece undergoes a thorough examination by a reputable third-party laboratory based in Singapore, ensuring compliance with industry standards regarding lead content and providing a guarantee of being cadmium-free.
What safety certifications do Pretty Major pots and pans hold?
The ceramic coating, Xeradur 3 ILAG non-stick, used in Pretty Major cookware is Swiss-certified and designed for long-lasting non-stick performance. It meets strict EU regulations such as 1935/2004, 2017/1000, and 2023/2006. Our products have undergone rigorous testing and certification in Singapore, ensuring they meet the highest safety standards. For more information, please refer to our certification report.
How can I maintain the non-stick coating of my Pretty Major cookware?
To ensure the longevity of our non-stick coating, we recommend the following guidelines:
Before Cooking:
- Preheat your cookware on low to medium heat for up to 90 seconds before adding a thin layer of oil. Avoid leaving them empty on a hot burner, unless set to a very low heat.
During Cooking:
- To sustain the effectiveness of the non-stick coating, avoid overheating. Use low to medium heat when cooking, as ceramic retains heat efficiently.
- Refrain from using oil sprays or cooking aerosols for greasing your cookware to preserve their natural non-stick properties.
- Opt for silicone or wooden utensils over metal ones, and always prepare your ingredients on a separate surface rather than directly in the pan.
After Cooking:
- Ensure your cookware cools completely before rinsing with cold water to prevent thermal shock.
- Hand-wash your cookware with gentle dishwashing liquids and a soft sponge instead of dishwashers.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaning agents or scouring pads to prevent damaging the non-stick coating.

What is a non-stick pan?
A non-stick pan is a type of cookware coated with a special material, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), most commonly known as Teflon, that prevents food from sticking to its surface. This makes cooking easier and requires less oil or butter. At Pretty Major, we offer pots and pans with ceramic non-stick coating, ensuring effortless cooking and easy cleanup. Non-stick pans are great for cooking delicate foods like eggs and pancakes. Pretty Major's All-In-One pan and versatile Stock pot come with generous pour spouts for easy and precise pouring, making them perfect for soups and broths. It's important to handle non-stick cookware gently to avoid damaging the coating. Regular cleaning and care are necessary to keep them working well.
What pans can you use on an induction stove?
For optimal performance on an induction stove, it is advisable to use pans made from magnetic materials such as cast iron and magnetic stainless steel. These materials efficiently conduct heat as induction stoves operate by heating cookware directly through a magnetic field. Additionally, pans should feature a flat and smooth bottom to ensure uniform heating and cooking. Prior to usage, always verify compatibility by consulting the manufacturer's specifications before using any pans on an induction stove.
At Pretty Major, our range of pots and pans is meticulously designed to be compatible with induction stove cooking and more, guaranteeing seamless performance every time.
What is the most useful pan for cooking?
The choice of the most useful pan for cooking is subjective and varies based on individual preferences and culinary practices. However, a highly versatile option is the skillet or frying pan. Skillets offer exceptional flexibility and can accommodate a wide array of cooking techniques, including frying, sautéing, searing, and even baking. Available in diverse sizes and materials like stainless steel, cast iron, and non-stick coatings, skillets can adapt to various cooking requirements.
For enhanced versatility, our all-in-one pan offers a multitude of functions. From frying and searing to steaming, sautéing, boiling, braising, straining, serving, and even storing, it caters to a broad spectrum of cooking needs.
What are cooking pans made of?
Cooking pans are crafted from a diverse array of materials, ranging from copper and aluminium to cast iron and stainless steel, each offering unique properties such as durability, heat conductivity and non-stick capabilities to accommodate various cooking styles. While it's essential to consider cooking preferences, prioritizing safety is equally crucial when selecting cookware. Opting for materials certified as safe and non-toxic by reputable organizations is essential to prevent harmful chemicals from leaching into food during cooking. Ultimately, the choice of material depends on individual needs and desired cooking outcomes. Each type of pan has its considerations, making it vital to select the right one for your specific requirements.
How to ensure that non-stick cookware is safe and non-toxic?
Safe non-stick cookware is a valuable addition to any kitchen, simplifying the cooking process for foods prone to sticking. Their innovative coating allows for effortless stir-frying, searing, or sautéing with minimal oil and easy cleanup, requiring only minimal scrubbing for a spotless finish. However, concerns about the potential toxicity of nonstick coatings prompt the need for caution. To ensure the safety of nonstick cookware, begin by selecting cookware made from materials known for their safety, such as ceramic, stainless steel, or cast iron. Additionally, prioritise products with certifications like the Swiss ILAG Certified Coating, indicating a non-toxic coating. At Pretty Major, our cookware boasts ILAG non-toxic ceramic coating certification, providing peace of mind while cooking.
How to care for non-stick cookware?
Ensuring the longevity of your non-stick pots and pans requires diligent care to prevent scratching, peeling, or warping of their surface. While it's recommended to refer to the specific manufacturer care guide for your pans, some general practices can help keep them in top condition. Avoid using abrasive tools during cleaning, as they could damage the surface. Instead, opt for a gentle scrub using mild dish soap and a soft cloth or sponge. For stubborn residue, soak the cookware in warm, soapy water before gently scrubbing it clean. If necessary, create a paste using a small amount of baking soda and water to apply to the pan as a mild abrasive. When cooking, choose appropriate utensils such as wooden spoons or silicone utensils to prevent chipping of the coating. Additionally, avoid overheating nonstick pans and never heat them while empty. By adhering to the proper care instructions, you can ensure that your nonstick pans remain in excellent condition for years to come.
